Terms of Service

Last updated: April 4, 2026. These terms apply to your use of AskDad’s website and services.

1. What AskDad is

AskDad connects customers with independent mechanics (“Dads”) for informational second opinions about automotive repair questions. AskDad is not a repair shop, insurer, or guarantor of any outcome. Guidance you receive is not a substitute for an in-person inspection by a licensed professional at a facility of your choice.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or create risk for others.

3. Payments

Fees (for example, unlocking a Dad’s written opinion or follow-up messaging) are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by third-party providers (e.g. Stripe). Pricing, escrow language on the site, and any refunds or disputes are handled according to the disclosures shown at checkout and applicable law. AskDad does not guarantee any particular repair outcome or savings.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the platform—for example: harassment, fraud, impersonation, attempting to access others’ data, scraping or automated abuse, uploading malware, or using the service for anything unlawful. Dads must represent their qualifications honestly; customers must not use the service to coordinate illegal activity.

5. Content & intellectual property

You retain rights to content you submit. You grant AskDad a license to host, display, and process that content as needed to operate the service (including sharing it with assigned Dads and support staff as required). The AskDad name, branding, and site design are owned by AskDad or its licensors.

6. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. Mechanical advice through AskDad is informational only. You assume responsibility for decisions you make about repairs, shops, and safety.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AskDad and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on advice obtained through the platform. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid AskDad for that specific matter in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or fifty dollars (USD $50) if greater—unless applicable law requires otherwise.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms where allowed by law.
